Occupational Therapy

At BP Healthcare, we deliver mobile occupational therapy that’s practical, empowering, and completely personalised. Whether you’re learning new skills, adjusting to disability, or overcoming physical or cognitive challenges, our OTs help you build confidence and independence, all within your home environment.

What Is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy (OT) helps people of all ages participate more fully in daily life. This could mean improving your ability to get dressed, prepare meals, shower safely, go shopping, use equipment, or manage sensory or emotional challenges.

Our mobile OTs assess your environment, routines, and personal strengths to create a plan that makes everyday life easier, safer, and more fulfilling, all while working toward your NDIS goals.

What Our Mobile Occupational Therapists Help With

Sensory Regulation and Behaviour Support (Especially in Children)

Many children with autism, ADHD, or developmental delays experience difficulty processing sensory input, such as sound, touch, light, or movement. This can lead to emotional outbursts, avoidance, anxiety, or trouble focusing. Our occupational therapists work with children (and their families) to identify sensory triggers and develop calming routines, sensory diets, and behaviour strategies that help them feel more secure, focused, and in control during everyday activities.

Fine Motor and Hand Coordination Training

Fine motor skills are essential for tasks like writing, using utensils, doing up buttons, tying shoelaces, or handling tools and technology. We support children and adults with exercises and activities that improve hand strength, coordination, dexterity, and control. This therapy is especially helpful for participants with developmental delays, neurological conditions, or muscle weakness, and is delivered in a way that’s engaging and functional within the home.

Cognitive Strategies for Memory, Organisation, and Attention

For clients with brain injury, stroke, ADHD, dementia, or other cognitive challenges, everyday tasks can become difficult to manage. Our occupational therapists help build skills like following routines, planning steps, remembering information, and maintaining attention. We use evidence-based techniques tailored to the client’s goals, whether it’s managing medications, completing tasks independently, or staying on track with daily responsibilities.

Fatigue and Energy Conservation Strategies

Chronic fatigue, long-term illness, or conditions like multiple sclerosis can make it hard to maintain energy throughout the day. We teach clients how to balance activity and rest, adapt tasks to conserve energy, and organise routines to reduce exhaustion. Our goal is to help people do more with less strain, preserving energy for what matters most in their daily life.
